Bareilly, Thursday:In a major anti-corruption crackdown, the Anti-Corruption Organization (ACO) trapped and arrested a clerk of the Chakbandi (Land Consolidation) Department in Bareilly on Thursday afternoon while he was accepting a ₹15,000 bribe inside his office. The accused was caught red-handed by the trap team, creating panic among the department staff.

The arrested official has been identified as Rajat Chaudhary, son of Badan Singh, a resident of Ruppur Tandola village, Thakurdwara police station area, district Moradabad. He was currently posted as a Junior Assistant (Peshkar) in the office of the Chakbandi Officer, Faridpur. The team caught him inside the office while accepting the bribe amount from the complainant.

Bribe for Land Mutation in Donation Case

According to officials, the complainant Mohammad Adil, son of Sameer Khan, a resident of Padarathpur village, under Faridpur police station, had approached the anti-corruption team after Rajat Chaudhary demanded a ₹15,000 bribe in exchange for processing the mutation (dakhil-kharij) of land that Adil had received through donation.

Acting swiftly on the complaint, the Bareilly Division Trap Team laid a well-planned operation and caught the clerk red-handed while accepting the money.

Operation Led by Inspector Praveen Sanyal

The entire operation was executed under the leadership of Inspector Praveen Sanyal, head of the Anti-Corruption Trap Team, Bareilly Mandal. The team documented the proceedings, gathered all necessary evidence on the spot, and immediately handed the accused over to the Kotwali police.

A case has been registered against Rajat Chaudhary under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Following the successful operation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau issued a strong appeal to the public, urging them to report any instances of bribery or corruption by government officials without hesitation.
