Achievement: IVRI Awarded NAAC A++ Grade in Veterinary Science, Evaluated on Seven Key Parameters

The Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) has achieved a remarkable milestone. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has awarded the institute an A++ grade for its overall performance, academic excellence, research innovation, and infrastructure.
Located in Izatnagar, Bareilly, IVRI becomes the first deemed university under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) to earn the prestigious A++ grade in the NAAC evaluation.
According to the institute’s Director, Dr. Triveni Dutt, IVRI secured a CGPA of 3.58 out of 4 in the NAAC assessment. He credited the achievement to the collective efforts of scientists, faculty members, students, and administrative staff. Dr. Dutt stated that the grade is not merely a certification but a testament to IVRI’s global standards in veterinary science. He added that this accomplishment will further motivate the institute to contribute to the nation’s food security and livestock prosperity. The institute now aims to position IVRI among the world’s leading institutions in veterinary research and education.
Evaluation Based on Comprehensive Performance
The A++ grade was awarded based on IVRI’s performance from 2018 to 2023. A NAAC on-site peer team visited the campus from June 2 to 4 to conduct a thorough evaluation.
135 Years of Service to Animal Health
Joint Director (Academic) Dr. S.K. Mandiratta highlighted that IVRI was established in 1889 and has consistently contributed to India’s livestock sector. The institute has developed several technologies, diagnostic kits, and tools for the prevention and treatment of animal diseases.
He praised the efforts of IQAC Coordinator Dr. Manish Mahawar, Associate Nodal Officer Dr. Madhu C.L., and all committee members whose teamwork led to this achievement.
Seven Key Criteria of NAAC Evaluation
NAAC assessed IVRI on the following seven parameters:
Curriculum Design Quality of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs.
Teaching, Learning, and Evaluation – Adoption of modern teaching methods and a fair student evaluation system.
Research, Innovation, and Extension Patents, publications, and societal impact of research.
Infrastructure and Learning Resources – Advanced laboratories, libraries, and modern animal facilities.
Student Support and Progression Fellowships, placements, and counseling services for students.
Governance, Leadership, and Management – Transparent and efficient administrative and financial systems.
Institutional Values and Best Practices – Environmental awareness, social responsibility, and ethical conduct.
